man, i can't believe how Romans chapter 7 is so true in my life. i'm not gonna quote the whole thing, but basically, paul says that he does what he doesn't want to do, and he doesn't do what he does want to do.
not that i want to blame the "other" me for all the sins in my life, but i feel the same way as paul these days. i'm becoming more lazy as the days go by, and the times i spend doing something aren't as productive as i would like. i know that our salvation does not depend on our works, and i think (don't quote me on this) that God sometimes allows us to stumble so that we may understand the depth of His grace and the fullness of His love. wow!
i remember reading this book while in was in jordan. the book is titled GRACE AWAKENING. i think charles swindol wrote it... i'm not really sure. well, the author uses the first few chapters of the book to really define the term grace in a way that almost seem "un-Christian". he says that grace must be preached without any sugar-coating to the point that people may misunderstand it to be a "license to sin". i know that sounds wrong, but his point is that grace needs to be preached the way it really is. cuz grace really says, nothing from us, everything from God. period. nothing else. nothing less. so if grace is preached the right way, people are either going to take it as a "lincese to sin" or understand grace in its true meaning. (disclaimer: this short summary is from my memory, which seems to be deteriorating due to lack of usage over past couple of months... so if what i claim to be the author's point is not really his point at all, then it's my fault.)
well, i just wanted to talk about that because grace is what keeps me going these days... wait, rewind... let's me rephrase that.
the grace of God through our Lord Jesus Christ is what keeps me going these days. i've had this verse as my footer of my hotmail account for about two years now, and i think it really describes how i feel, especially when i'm down.
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
- Romans 8:38-39
for i am convinced... man, i really want to live my life with this conviction. grace awakening... wake up sleepy head.
