saturday midnite...
we heard about the meteor shower that was going to take place in the sky, so bunch of us hopped in our cars with jackets, sleeping bags, and flash light and headed out to walnut creek area. we were about to witness one of the most fascinating display of the wonder of astronomy. about fifteen of us parked in a remote entrace to a "park", which was more like a mountain, and hiked up about 10min to an open space. everyone was complaining about the hike and stuff but i was too excited about what i was about to see to complain. we all layed out on the sleeping bags and looked up to the night sky and allowed out eyes to adjust to the night. it was fun being out there in the midst of oh's and ah's and the usual joking around in between, but the amazing display of God's creation and His grace was what made me really thankful. He had made all this just for us. so that we might see, enjoy, and glorify the One who created all these things, and of course, us. altough we got home around 3am sunday, i saw about 100 meteors burn up in the sky.
it was one of the most amazing things i've seen...
sunday afternoon about 4p.m. (after fixing grace's flat... did you get home safely?)
annual volleyball tournament was under way. i decided to play for the young adult team this year since i've played for the Berkeley team for the past four years. it had been alomst a whole year since the last time i even touched volleyball, but all two years of playing high school volleyball is engrained in my reflexes... playing volleyball just reminds me of the high school days in the gym running all those drills that our coach made us do, all in the name of making our team better. all i remember is the "stingers" we would run every time someone would mess up again... (stingers: type of running drill, mostly used for punishment)
sunday night 11p.m.
after watching the game between the juinor team and the senior (+ sohomore) team play, i was getting excited about the game that we were going to play. although we didn't have as many "fans" who were cheering for us compared to the previous game, we had the largest turn out for the whole year. martin, david, hong, lillian, young, kristy, se-won, and BK. Thanks guys!
i never try to play for the "fans" though... when i'm out there, it's just me, my glove, the ball, and the hitter. i really try to get into the zone. people do not realize, but picthing, even in softball, can make alot of difference. usually, i can tell what kind of pitch they are looking for. then i just play with their mind. i pitch inside, outside, up high, down low, and all from variety of angles which i release the ball. i can make people pop up, and i can make people hit weak grounders. i mean, yeah, i do give up big hits, but once i figure them out, they are mine.
last night was tough. we were facing elimination, and we were playing the team with the best record, one of the eastbay teams. we got off to a great start, and i think in the third inning, the score was 4-2 in our favor. i haven't pitched in so long, and on top of that, i was pretty tired from the v-ball tourney that ended only couple of hours ago. amazingly, i found myslef inside the diamond with three runners on the bases (bases loaded), 2 outs, and 3 balls and one stike. this what you call a "jam". not "jam" that they play on the radio station like POWER 106 or 92.3 the BEAT, but a situation where you are most likely to get jacked...
well, amazingly next two pitches were right down the middle and the batter didn't swing at it! i saw it all in slow mostion, pitch is up, and it is down, and the ump calls "strike three, you are out!"
what's really funny is that the next inning was what people call, a de-javu i don't know how it is spelled... but the same thing... score 4-2, bases loaded, 2 outs, count 3 balls and 1strike, pitch is up, and it's down. "strike three, you are out!"
haha... i can't believe that happend... what's more amazing is that, through the whole thing, i stayed calm and almost emotionless...
what a day... it was a full 24hrs of many wonderful things. that's the best wat i can put it...
but you know what the best part of my day was? the sunday worship service. it was one of those unified worship services where the whole service is heard in two different languages, korean and broken english. but the sermon blessed me so much.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always
pray continually
give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
a simple message from a familar text, but much blessings...
i need to give thanks and praise to God, always, continually, and in all circumstances.
thank you God. thank you.
