club kcpc
i know that kcpc is one of the best place to meet single people. everyone that have come and gone also know that this is true. now everyone in the whole wide world knows that kcpc is the best place to meet single people. well, for those who read the magazine called Amagazine anyways...
in the december 2001/january 2002 issue is an article listing the best place to meet single people (i dunno what the stupid title states) by the region of the country. so it lists the best bars/pubs, clubs, and pool hall across the major metropolitan area. nothing unusal about that. but BOOM there it is. under SAN FRANCISCO is listed "Korean Central Presbyterian Church of San Francisco".
i was utterly shocked and could not believe what i was seeing. "this is a joke, right?" no it was not a joke. there it was in the middle of the page with big bold letters.
however, the description of the church and the life of the people that come to our church is described very accurately. they even listed the time and content of the service ("contemporary sing-along" and "a short, topical message").
although, they have put a little twist in describing KCPC, i couldn't deny the fact that whoever wrote this article was very observant.
i dunno. i'm not super offended by it, but it feels like the feeling of knowing that you lost a match or a race because the opponent cheated in some way.
i mean, i don't think we should go buy all the copies of this magazine and burn it up or anything (as pastor ryan suggested, jokingly), but what does this mean to me, us, and them?
me. i'm glad that i can laugh things off and let it go. move on with life. so what if people on the outside wants to take a shot. they really don't know what this is all about. like martin said (in another context), these people are under the veil still.
us (kcpc people). well, we can be more sensitive of how people perceive us, on one hand, but i don't think that really matters. i think a church is no longer a church when we spend more of our energy trying to set our image at some level instead of worshipping God.
them (the people that read the strupid Amagazine). hey, that's cool. Grace wanted to "recruit" more people to kcpc anyways... and if they wanna come to check out the people at our church, let them come. we will continue to preach the Gospel, the message of Grace, and some of them may be saved. praise God!
this is indeed an interesting topic. i think this past superbowl sunday, the three most talked about topic was:
1) how long the message was
2) the superbowl score
3) "did you see that article?"
haha... therefore, i didn't do justice in the light of immeasurable importance of the topic (a slight sarcasm there...), but i wanna know what you all think about it. i think it would be fun to hear your opinion on this.
